DARN GOOD TUITION

WELCOME

Hi. Welcome to Darn Good Music Tuition, the teaching page of James Darn. I’m a multi instrumentalist that has experience of teaching a range of instruments with over ten years experience teaching in schools and privately. I teach drums, percussion, guitar, bass guitar and music theory, based in Watford / NW London. To see my experience as a musician please see the Darn Good Musician section of this site.

“James is a very talented and highly skilled drummer and my son absolutely loved having lessons with him. He had fun in his lessons, played 'cool music' and James taught him a skill which my son (aged 10) is now using in his first band.”

Ruth Duffett - 2011 (Primary school teacher and piano tutor)

“I really enjoyed my guitar lessons with Jimmy. He teaches in an engaging and interesting way and has a huge amount of knowledge of music which really helped make the lessons informative and useful. His teaching really helped me advance in my guitar playing and my knowledge of music which I have put to use by playing in multiple bands and groups” - Jake Wilson, age 15 - 2014

“I first met James watching him play drums and I knew he was the guy to teach me! He helped me prepare for my grade 7, with which I achieved a distinction and gained entry to study at London College of Music to gain my BA(hons). Without James' tuition, this may be a dream I'd still be waiting on. I can read better, play better, and I feel better as a drummer having trained with him!”

Beth Dalton - 2012, (Music graduate and professional drummer)

“Jimmy has been teaching our home educated children in regular weekly group sessions for the past 18 months. Our three children, aged 9, 12 and 15, have excelled in knowledge of music theory, guitar, music reading, rhythm, drums and piano skills. Jimmy has a unique teaching style of enthusiasm balanced with encyclopaedic music knowledge and a variety of musical exercises and techniques. I would recommend him as a visiting teacher to any home-schooled family” - Rachel & Daniel Brown - 2016
